The anal glands (more properly termed the anal sacs) are two sac-like structures located just under the skin near the anus. These sacs periodically fill with a thick, foul smelling secretion known as anal gland secretion (or anal sac secretion). Impaction of the anal sacs is the "plugging-up" or "stopping-up" of the anal glands, with normal secretion. Sometimes the outlet (called the duct) of the anal gland becomes stopped-up and the gland fails to empty properly. This usually leads to discomfort (from the accumulating pressure) and will sometimes lead to infection.
Possible signs that your pet's anal glands may be impacted include scooting of the rear end, licking the region around the anal glands, and possible reluctance in defecating which can commonly be confused with constipation.
Please note that expressing anal glands can sometimes be a messy process and a bath may be suggested afterwards.

Dental disease (especially periodontal disease) is the most common disease in our canine companions. It is also one of the most preventable and treatable diseases. Frequent brushing of your dog's teeth is essential in maintaining his or her dental health and is something that every dog owner may want to consider learning to do.
Our professional grooming staff can provide very thorough tooth brushing as an add-on at a minimal price with any self-service, full-service bathing or full-service grooming.
Heavily matted coats can be very difficult to comb out. It can also cause discomfort and irritation to your pet. Periodically it will be determined that the wiser approach is to shave the dog's coat to eliminate the mats rather than subjecting the dog to a painful de-matting process.
Our grooming staff will perform de-matting at a flat per-half-hour charge for animals that we determine can be safely de-matted. Please inquire at the time of your appointment about an estimated charge for de-matting of your pet. Quotes cannot be given over the phone as the condition of your animal's coat must be evaluated by a groomer prior to making an estimate.
Starting price $58**
Is your dog's shedding driving you crazy? If you have thought that there is just nothing that can be done about it, then we have good news for you! Our de-shedding process (also known as carding or stripping) strips away your dog's undercoat as well as the top coat that is shedding all over your home. This process helps to reduce or eliminate a dog's shedding for up to six weeks. Unlike shaving, the dog's coat is only thinned out therefore the length of the coat is not reduced in any way.
